Included with the Apex EVO is a newly redesigned aluminium camera mount and 3D printed isolation inserts. This keeps the camera firmly locked in place and reduces vibrations, whilst ensuring it is electrically isolated from the frame.
With the many different HD and analog cameras on the market there is a large variation between models in the distance from the front of the lens to the mounting bolts. To give the camera the best possible protection, whilst also keeping the frame out of shot, it is critical to be able to adjust the position of the camera forwards and backwards within the frame.
By rotating the TPU inserts 180 degrees, as well as alternating between using the upper or lower bolt as the pivot point, the EVO camera mount has 4 possible mounting positions each 2mm apart.
CUSTOM GOPRO MOUNTING
For quick angle changes while filming, not many mounts can beat the standard GoPro tab and slot design. However the stock GoPro bolt leaves a lot to be desired for FPV use.
Included with the Mr Steele version of the Apex is not only a 3D printed mount, but also a new custom designed bolt, specifically for FPV use.
Our new bolt is machined from aluminium for substantial weight savings and has an 8mm hex on the outside, along with an internal 2.5mm hex broach.
Make quick changes to your GoPro angle using either the standard hex driver for M3 bolts, or the prop tool for M5 nuts, which you already have with you in your flight bag.
HD VIDEO SYSTEM ISOLATION
A major drawback of the some modern HD video systems is that the body of the unit is grounded, this can cause the conductive carbon fiber plates and frame hardware to be grounded too. In an ideal world this is not necessarily a problem, however in the real world it's an accident waiting to happen.
Alongside the required M2 mounting hardware for the Caddx Vista and M1.6 hardware for the DJI O3, we also include a die-cut mylar insulator and custom machined 'cone rivets' from non-conductive POM.
When installed your HD video system, and also the mounting hardware, is electrically isolated from the frame. This solution adds only 0.5g of extra weight compared to other designs using bulky and heavy 3D prints.
ANTENNA MOUNTING
Included in every kit is a 3D printed antenna mount for the your HD video system or other similar antennas.
In addition the Mr Steele version of the kit also includes a standoff mount for the Tracer Immortal-T antenna.

Right away, this is the best 65mm Whoop I know. Not even close.
I ordered two, one is more or less stock, just the PEEK motor screws and V3 cockroach. The second is upgraded to 0702 27000kV but will go back because I like the 25000kV more because of smoother throttle response and perfect betaflight tune.
Now the but:
1. On both quads I had to replace the BeeEye for a spare one because both are out of focus.
2. the yellow props were way too loose and very brittle. I lost two on my maiden. Black, blue and red are very tight (too tight for such a fragile prop) but if you get them on without bending them, they will last.
3. why does the quad not come with the lighter frame right away?
4. PH2.0…. You know the drill.
On that price point, even after the frame and PEEK upgrade I can forgive these quality issues. Especially considering the great tune and quality FC and motors. But be sure to order a replacement cam and props right away.
This was kind of a late night lark. I'd seen this upgrade for the Mk3 for a while and pondered whether it was a gimmick or not, and I'm pleased to say it's a genuinely good upgrade. It has reduced the noise of my Mk3 considerably. I haven't noted any significant increase in print quality, but the old drone of the bed is gone and that's completely worth it.
