Good Ergonomics, Bad Hall Sensors

I got this radio because it looked like the ergonomics would work really well for me, and it did for the most part. The removable switches on the shoulder was also something that really interested me. I planned on taking out the original switches, and then just using the aftermarket covers without adding the new toggle switches that came with that kit. I only need arm, beeper, modes, and flip over after crash.

The first issue I had, while a bit more minor, the silver screws on the top that hold the case together are too small in my opinion. They should have used the same screws all the way around. Not sure why they would do that. The radio is designed to be taken apart, but the screws those silver screws are cheap and will strip no matter how careful you are.

The second more serious issue is the hall sensors. The gimbals themselves are fine, I actually grew to like them quite a bit. They have less travel on the Roll and Yaw axis, which works well for flying drones. You don't need a ton of resolution on those axis. However, the hall sensors are horrible, the worst I have ever used. I've used all sorts of radios over the years, and I have never seen gimbals jitter so badly. I even tried to add a deadband so they wouldn't jitter around 0. That didn't fix it, I could literally hear the jitter in the motors. No matter what input you give the gimbals, it will add jitter to those inputs.

So because of that, there is no way I could recommend this Radio for anyone to use beyond maybe a whoop, or maybe a toothpick. I would in no way trust this radio with a $500 quad. The gimbals seemed fine for a week, and then all of a sudden I started having issues. I did talk to Jumper, and they're sending me a new one, but I can't trust this radio anymore. The bad gimbal started to work again after rebuilding it and flipping the magnet, but both have such severe jitter that no matter what you try, it will translate to your quad not flying correctly.

Do yourself a favor, and get the Boxer instead. Radiomaster is just made a lot better. I've taken my TX16s apart at least a dozen times and the AG01's don't budge. They're flawless.

Defective out of the box

Newbeedrone will let you hang dried. Route you to China which is never a good thing. Go to pyrodrone or rdq if you want after sale service.
