FETtec Spike Absorber The FETtec Spike Absorber uses well-chosen TVS-Diodes to prevent the connected components from huge voltage spikes. The Spike Absorber is meant to be used in addition to an electrolytic capacitor. The capacitor can be mounted directly on top of the board.
It will take care that the voltage doesn't rise above a specific level. Which means it absorbs energy once the specific voltage level is reached.
On electrical power systems using brushless motors, ESCs and LiPo batteries, high current and voltage peaks are common. The most known way to keep them in areas where they don't damage items that are connected to the battery is the usage of capacitors. Capacitors dampen any movement of the voltage. They store energy if the voltage rises and supply it when the voltage falls. But in some cases, there are very short but high voltage spikes where capacitors are too slow. These spikes are mostly very short and appear in the area of some nano microseconds, but can easily be double or triple the normal battery voltage.
Most consumer electronics can survive a lot of these spikes, even if they are over their normal voltage rating, but if the spike is too strong, or it happens over a longer period, voltage regulators, capacitors and FETs can be damaged and fail. The Spike Absorber will absorb the energy of these spikes before they get in areas where gear might get damage.
The Spike Absorber absorbs voltage spikes so that damaging voltages are not reached at all
when i received mine the box and everything was not damaged but when i opened it the canopy was cracked and the VTX did not work when i tried my first battery. I'm alright with the vtx being DOA as all i really wanted was the motors and beeeye camara, But when i reached out to customer service i was blamed for crashing it (even tho i never flew it). beware the QC is total garbage. save your money and buy a Mobula6 from a reputable company like GetFPV for RDQ's. I wasn't going to write a review but after the email i received i don't want anyone else getting scammed.
Darren excelled in selecting the development kit and essential accessories that would have to purchase separately, ensuring I made an informed purchase. His attention to detail and dedication prevented any post-purchase disappointment. I am thoroughly pleased and grateful for his exceptional service.
An absolute pleasure to fly. Handles incredibly well and responds to any input just as I expected.
The only criticism is not of the performance of the drone. Unfortunately, it arrived with damage to the canopy. But I was still able to fly it and make initial observations.
Update process is cumbersome, better if done with the VTX out of the quad. Also the update port is much flimsier than the earlier 2 antenna versions, IMO.
