We are proud to introduce our Ethix Special Edition Mambo Radio. This edition has a few notable changes that are more tailored to the likings of Mr. Steele & Konasty. First and foremost we gave the front fascia a battleship grey color scheme with a more gritty texture for added grip. Next, the side grips were custom designed with a more rubbery feel for maximum comfort and traction when holding the radio. Along with these physical changes the radio also comes with a gang of upgraded accessories such as, TBS crown jewel stick ends, red and black silicone switch caps (full radio), a new Ethix V2 neck strap, Ethix Stickers, and a heavy-duty low profile retractable kickstand, not to mention the Send dial which goes to “11.” All of these adjustments from the stock TBS mambo give it not only some added character and esthetic flare, but they also make it much more tailored to the pro user who wants the best quality and feels out of their radio. We know you will love it and also we would like to thank you for your continued support. Without you, we couldn’t keep making cool products like this.

Team BlackSheep has redefined the portable remote control with the TBS Tango 2. Now we're back with one of the most popular requests: a compact full-size remote! The TBS Mambo follows in the footsteps, but focuses on all of the things the Tango 2 tries not to have: a larger screen, traditional form factor with switches and potentiometers, JR module bay, replaceable batteries and trim buttons!

But do not fear: we haven't made a cookie-cutter remote! With the built-in antenna (external antenna available as optional add-on), the 2-position and momentary gamepad buttons, and TBS Tracer built-in, we've accomplished a few "firsts" that put this radio into a class on its own!

The first radio with TBS Tracer built in. And it fits your existing TBS Crossfire module through the JR bay! TBS Tracer is the world's lowest latency radio link, and builds upon the rock-solid reputation of the TBS Crossfire code base. With the continued development and expansion of the TBS ecosystem, pilots will remain on the bleeding edge of capabilities paired with the ease of use and overall robustness that TBS products are known for.

        Another amazing TBS radio

Got this because of my great experience with my Tango 2 Pro and desire to try Tracer and a classic radio form factor. There’s the drawbacks that all the video reviewers have mentioned, the switches are very difficult if not impossible to replace, and it’s a bit irritating that Crossfire isn’t included out the gate. But it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed with a module.

Oh, and another big upgrade from the Tango 2 is it’s much easier to change out batteries
with the 18650 batteries now. Tip to the wise, make sure the 18650s you buy are EXACTLY 65mm long, I made a mistake and bought some protected Nitecores that had a micro USB port in them and this made the batteries 67mm, which even at 2mm over was way too big for the battery port and made me have to wait a few days more to buy new, unprotected 65mm batteries.

It is incredibly comfortable to hold in your hands, there’s a plastic ridge on the underside right where your pointer or middle finger would sit depending on your style, and it’s so comfortable to have that ridge to push mildly against with your fingers.

But, the left shoulder 2 position button feels slightly wrongly placed. It still works of course, but it’s like they placed it just millimeters closer to the edge than they should have and you end up pressing it with the underside of your 1st pointer finger joint instead of your finger pad like you should be. It’s as if the button was designed for kid fingers. Odd mistake that no one seems to have caught during the design and testing of the radio.

I did splurge for the Ethix version mostly because I really liked the gray look and the slight texturing difference of the gray plastic, the TBS Crown Jewels (all time favorite stick ends) and most of all, the kickstand. All the other stuff they tout in the Ethix version is a bit of nonsense, the stickers, the really dumb “send” on the pots, the poorly made low quality Ethix neckstrap… so I ended up paying more for the features I really liked, but they were worth the extra splurge to me. Barely.

I would have been happier to pay more instead for the folding gimbals from the Tango 2 Pro instead. Weird that they didn’t end up going that route given how great and useful the folding gimbals are on the T2.

But still, even at $189 for the Ethix version, this is hands down a great radio and a great buy.
